How do I know if I have good sitting posture? +

It begins by looking at your lower body. In sitting, your hips, knees and ankles should be at a 90 degree angle. Your hips can be a little more open, 100 degrees but if your knees are above your hips then it’s less than 90 degrees. This makes it much more difficult to stand.

What is the right chair height for me? +

The best sitting posture for comfort and ease of movement is achieved with a 90 degree angle at your hips, knees, and ankles, with your feet flat on the floor.

Begin by sitting in a dining room chair which is typically 18 inches in seat height. Sit to stand a few times. Check your alignment at your hips, knees and ankles. Are they all 90 degrees? For proper seat depth, you should be able to place 4 fingers between the edge of the seat and the back of your knees. Measure the height of the seat from the floor to the top of the seat cushion. If it feels comfortable and you have the correct alignment then this is the optimal seat height for you. Now measure the chair or couch that you want to adjust for height. What’s the difference between the two? That is how much rise you need to achieve optimal sitting posture and ease of movement.

We don’t recommend raising chairs more than 2 1/4 inches with risers. Couches and beds can be raised higher.
My risers are so seamless I forget they’re there.

These risers are Class A because they are handmade and they look like part of the furniture. The furniture doesn’t slide, so I know they’re safe. There’s no wiggling and it feels firm. I have no more trouble getting up and down from my couch. I tried it and I know it works!

Everyone is so surprised to hear how much of a difference an inch Or two makes but it’s been a world of difference for my husband who has Parkinson’s.

Wow! I couldn’t believe what a difference just a 1 1/2 inch rise makes when getting up and down from my chair, but it does.

They fit my [furniture] legs perfectly! They’re much prettier than a couple of 2 x 4’s laying on the carpet.
